Notice of motion:
That two additional Chief Shop Steward of Letter Carriers be added to the Executive (Ajay Sharma)
That two additional Chief Shop Steward of RSMCs be added to the Executive (Ajay Sharma)
That the position Recording Secretary be eliminated and the Recording Secretary duties be added to the Sergeant-at-Arms/Editor position. Served: Ajay Sharma
Notice of motion:
Where as the Edmonton Local had another local added to our membership, Jasper, Hinton, Edson.
Where as Article 1.3 of the Edmonton Bylaws only mentions EDLC
Where as 9.42 of the National Constitution speaks of Labour Council
Be it resolved that Article 1.3 of the Edmonton Bylaws reads: The Local shall be affiliated to the Alberta Federation of Labour (AFL) and the Edmonton District Labour Council (EDLC) as well as any other Labour Councils that are part of the Edmonton Locals geographical area. Served: Larry Dionne
Notice of motion:
Be it resolved that FULL TIME HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER and GRIEVANCE OFFICER be converted into two part time HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICERS, and two part time GRIEVANCE OFFICERS.
Where as the Edmonton Local is searching to find ways to save finances
Where as creating four part time positions would save money on benefits ($1580/month), Vacation Pay, Stat Holiday, Shift Premium ($5824/year both positions)
Where as this would help with full timer officer burnout and overburdening.
Where as this would create secondary leadership.
Where as the part time officer who is on corporate time could be used for consultations, grievance hearings and health and safety meetings and any other meeting, just to mention a few.
Where as part time officer on the work floor would be more aware of the issues that members have with management.
Where as the creation of these positions would be elected under the current Bylaws as Article 5
